I suspect he's stuck for a rhyme with 'orange glow'

    Hint -
    When the wind does blow
    In rain and snow

    Oh I can't resist.

There once was a big orange glow
That coped with the rain wind and snow
    It was a super tent
Though its' pole might be bent
There it is!! Way up high, never low.

A big tent should always be green
For that way it remains quite unseen
    In this camoflaged hide
    One can lie down inside
And do things which, if viewed, are obscene!

    lol Matt.
I suggest any further discussion about tent colour should take place in rhyme.
In fact all disagreements on OM forums should be settled in rhyme.
I'd go further and make it international law!!
Let's form a new poetry peace keeping movement.

My nominations for best rhyming of the day go to

    Scott, for

    what they fail you on
    words, like "aeleron"
    sesquipedalian

    in his poem

Your spelling at school's what they fail you on,
in exams, they set hard words, like "aeleron".
    That's a bit of a plane,
and if you knew its name
    You're probably sesquipedalian.

    And NNPB, for

    Bennachie, doolally and opportunity
    in his limerick

There once was a hill called Bennachie
That sent all who saw it doolally
    They went on their PCs
    Composed limericks with ease
And lurked waiting for their opportunity

I think Mad Jim's 'just pre-20,000' effort deserves the Bennachie Special Award for Pushing Back the Boundaries of Poetry.
(Even if he has gone back and inserted a few ***s after the event

"Pushing Back the Boundaries of Poetry"?
You mean a 'Specially Smutty Award' ?

Mad Jim's was pretty 'earthy', although Ace's epic on the subject of Oot's mighty whanger was quite smutty too; smutty, but with a certain eloquence.

Mad Jim's award would be more for a sense of boldly going where no limerick had (quite) gone before...

...and probably won't go again - LOL!

I just thought he knew Oot better than the rest of us.

Well I see that I'm slightly too late back from the pub to join in the 20K rush.

    Well done Buffman!!!

Don't feel left out, Mad Jim, because I'm going to use your limerick as the message on my Christmas cards this year.

Is there anything particularly festive about Mad Jim's limerick, Scott?

I just wondered if maybe it's reminiscent of a Bellshill nativity scene or something?

I think it's just that I'm very politically correct, as you know.

So a card containing Mad Jim's message, with a picture on the front depicting the events contained therein, will be quite secular, and can hardly offend one religious group more than another.

I'll maybe send my mother one with a robin on it, mind you.

I follow your thinking Scott, after all the activity in question is 'festive' in the widest sense of the word, but could I perhaps have the card with the robin on it too, pretty please?

Lol - fair enough, MoS. I'll maybe make two separate Christmas card lists.

Night folks. Fun day on Bennachie, eh?

Careful there MoS - perhaps we should just clarify what's happening to the robin before you decide which list to go on!

And with that thought, I bid you goodnight...

OK, before anything too nasty befalls the poor robin.

A card with Molly sneezing, blowing a wee robin off its' branch, snowflakes falling and a star in the sky......cute, disgusting and festive with a ray of hope, the perfect yuletide mix, should provide something for everyone.

All this high brow poetry and literary discussion is tiring isn't it?

Aye, up the wooden hill for me too.

    Night all

Morning all, well done Buffman for the 20K.

Respect to Jim and NNPB for pushing the taste level to the lowest yet. I wanted to go there but thought it was too rude, or the Server Police would have me bang to rights. ;-P

Do you think I should start a new "Bennachie Thread" now that this thread has broken all records?

I'll try to come up with an appropriate thread title and we'll put it in the Soap Box category this time.

One proviso: I start it off again ;o)

    What do you think folks?
