I've never owned a pair of leather boots. Im on my 5th pair of Scarpa Charmoz and also have a pair of La Sportiva Nepals for winter stuff. I've been looking at the Scarpa Terra and Active mainly for hill bagging in Yorkshire / Pennines. Suggestions please .

You've never owned any before, why do you particularly want to get some now?

Because I don't find B rated boots that comfy for long routes on soft ground.

You can get B0 rated boots made of fabric, you don't need to wear leather. For walking in Yorkshire / Pennines I'd probably look at some comfy Keen footwear, or Salewa do some nice lightweight boots. Though that's only if they fit!

Altberg are brilliant if they fit you.

    I've corrected it for you.

Just because the come in a range of widths doesn't mean the boot will fit your foot shape.

I used to get through a pair of boots a year (the soles wear out). 3 years ago I called a boot re-soler to ask what boots they recommended for an easy and effective re-sole. They said to get Meindl (anyone with an M on the side at the time). I did that and 3 years later I have the same boots with the same sole on !!!

They are a great pair of boots, fit my feet well and even though they are obviously very hard wearing are still nice and grippy.

    Good Choice Mark
