Interesting. I have one of the Eclipse hoodies and it is by far the most comfortable, warm, quick-drying and wicking material I have ever used. Absolutely love it... can't say I have ever used the Polartec version though

    It should be quite similar

I'd have thought that patenting the basic idea of a 'lawn mowered' fleece would be quite hard. Perhaps there's some details of the manufacturing process or something instead.

Well they'd only sue the people making the fabrics! Polartec are obviously very happy to have people using other peoples fabrics

"I'd have thought that patenting the basic idea of a 'lawn mowered' fleece would be quite hard."

Having sen some of the things you can get away with claiming in a patent*, I think waffle-faced fleece is fairly innovative...

    * I've had to do IP reviews in the past, and you can take two patents, put them side-by-side and look at them and think "that's the same as the other one, isn't it? where's the originality?"

    Yeah, patentable?

Incidentally, I wandered into a Trespass store the other day. Grid-pattern zip-nick fleeces for 11.99. I make no claims about them, I'm just saying

    Have fun.

I have a Kathmandu gridded fleece pullover which I am sure pre-dates those of Polartec.
