Had this Mountain Equipment Jacket for a couple of years and washed about 4 times with no problems.

Always use Nikwax Tech Wash on the recommended wash settings and then Nikwax TX Direct Wash In

Even after ive washed it it looks like the photos. Ive still gone through the process of re waterproofing it and drying it but it looks the same.

Its like oil but theres no way it could be.

Looks as though the laminate may be failing. Is there any sign of it peeling away?

It could well just be sweat building up. What temperature do you wash the jacket at? Gore say that washing at 30 isn't enough for their products as the oils and sweat don't get broken down properly. Try washing at 40 instead maybe?

Otherwise, take it to a shop and let them have a look at it. It's difficult to see from the pictures exactly what's wrong with it. If you take to a shop they may be able to send it away to Gore for you for them to have a look.

Wash it in a proper detergent like Persil, Ariel etc.

Then see if the (grease?) is still there.

I had a down jacket with a similar looking problem that three washes with tech wash didn't solve. I suspected it was body oils as it hadn't been washed for many years.

One wash in Ariel fixed it.

There's a reason they spend millions on developing better detergents than soap.

Might it just be an excess of TX Direct? It could be that applying after every wash is a bit too much.

Tried washing at 40 degrees with no luck.

Even tried Bold which did nothing.

Nikwax have offered to pay postage to send it to them to look at.

Pretty sure washing it with "Bold" would invalidate any guarantee.

Yes, Bold has fabric softeners which are definitely not recommended.

Though it should have got rid of any grease.

Which suggests it might be delaminating (difficult to tell from the pictures)

    Hard to tell.

    1) Contact ME and explain.

    2) Wash it as instructed here: http://gearandmountains.wordpress.co...roof-clothing/ I've used this method on a lot of different items and it hasn't failed yet. Hard to tell from the pics but it looks like a chemical rather than mechanical 'problem' at the moment, so it should be one you can get rid of. If there's actual oil on it then that's not ME's fault...
