Nice plan, speed - not that you're likely to get kicked out, I'm sure. A few extra days could be good (depending onweather, of course).

Yep, thats still good for me, a plan could be

You come to mine - Thurs night/Friday Morning
Pick Taz up - if work can be sorted then Pick Husky up (probably the closest we will find to a waif and stray - only kidding Husky)

Get up there and have a little warm up, or get some communal/gear shopping done

Depending on timings, maybe Glenn could pick someone up later in the day.

Or is all that being a bit organised this far in advance !!!

not bothered how bad the weather but would prefer sun & snow may well be going on Wednesday or Thursday so no point talking possible lift going and coming back may well be Tuesday or wednesday. I will be joining the YHA after xmas anyway so could always go and stay in one that is open.

@ Chewie: Sounds like a good rough guide to the universe of Coppermenies meet. As you said in a previous post, probably a little early to know for sure - but it does help me confirm things in my head.

@ speed: Sun and snow would be ideal. But a few days either side of the weekend will surely see you with some (half) decent weather.

Leave to nearer time of meet, I'll see if I can get their by public transport.

If not I will take up your kind offer if still available.

Very kind of you to offer us a lift, really appreciated.

He didn't - and, sad git that I am, I know what they mean

    How about LMAO ?

By the way, it tits me off that these internet abbreviations are commonly referred to as acronyms. They are not acronyms (except rarely). Radar is an acronym and so is NATO. The nearest an internet abbreviation gets to being one is LOL but then only if you say it as 'Loll' (to rhyme with doll) rather than saying it 'ell oh ell'. Oh, and FOAD is another - if anyone says it at all they'd proably say it as a one-syllable word to rhyme with 'mode'.

@Speed I might also stay up in the Lake District a bit longer after the Coppermines bash. We could perhaps meet up, sit on a summit, and talk in abbreviations

The classic mountaineers' abbreviation is, of course, NUHI (pronounced 'new hi')

Like I said, I'm so slow it took me eight months to do the three national peaks (although, to be fair, that was with time off for good behaviour between mountains).

Mind you, in my salad days I could turn in a pretty good pace from home to the pub when the time was approaching last orders.

@ Speed Re Coniston, I've not made any hard'n'fast plans yet (obviously) but as it's quite a way up there from home (and because the M6 is such an effing nightmare) I always try to stay for more than two nights otherwise it's barely worth the drive. There are several minor tops I want to visit in the southern fells as well as wherever the group walk on Saturday takes us all. I also fancy allowing a good half-day to explore Dow Crag (rather than just taking in its summit as part of a longer walk).

Well, I am very much looking forward to this trip and meeting all you folks for the first time, particularly pleased about being upgraded to cosy indoors.

I'll probably be travelling up after work on the Friday from the Wakefield / Leeds area if anyone is looking to arrange transport?
