No doubt the increased exposure from being an Olympic Sport would be brilliant from a commercial view point. The companies and retailers involved in the industry will see a massive opportunity to make money but as Nikalas illudes to what will it mean for the casual sport climber? Will costs go up and facilites become harder to access due to the potential increase in exposure and popularity?

I really hope squash gets it. It's a proper sport and it's crazy it isn't in already.

I'm quite a keen climber and think that, if implemented correctly, Olympic climbing would be excellent (better training methods, better facilities, better coaching). However, that implementation is unlikely to materialise and there would be the risk of outdoor rock climbing (ie. proper climbing) being disregarded.
