I'm planning a visit there and like the idea of a little warmth. Is there a fireplace there or will the only heat be from carrying a sack of coal up cross fell?

Billy it has a fire place in the sleeping room, last time I stopped someone had left coal. No chance of getting fire wood near bothy, best bet is to carry stuff in if possible the place will be freezing this time of year enjoy your stay and let me know how you get on.

Thanks Alfie. All I need now is a bag of coal and bags of persuasion for my wife.

Gregs Huthas a stove as opposed to a fireplace - useful to cook on . A bag of coal is delivered every October by the Gregs Hut Association. I wouldnt bank on there being any left by now, so you'd be best to carry up some fuel if you want to use the stove

Greg's hut - is that a bothy? Pardon my ignorance folks, I didn't know there were many in England! I've always fancied a bit of bothying - any way I can find out more about bothies in England?
