7 days, 1 hour and 25 minutes as far as I can gather.

Took me and my pal 28 days as a no-sweat backpacking trip.

Oddly enough, I sometimes used to go out with a fellrunner, and I reckoned he covered any given distance twice as fast as me, and he always maintained that Joss Naylor, holder of the above Wainwright record, was twice as fast as him.

Is that why you stopped going out? Because he was moving too fast I mean. ;O)

Well - I hadn't seen that fellrunner for about 25 years, but I met him recently, and ill-health has reduced him to a crawl these days. How are the mighty fallen!

Never have seen the point in rushing round the 214. Took us a week short of 3 years to do them first time round. Said I'd never get sucked in to doing them all again but up to 130 and counting again.

Paddy....we never know what's round the corner for us. Thanks for your e-mail btw.

It takes all sorts. I was once on nodding acquaintance with a guy, and he was quite a heavyweight build. I simply assumed that he wasn't a walker, and he looked the sort who wouldn't be able to walk the length of his own body. Imagine my surprise and admiration when someone tipped me the wink and told me the guy had completed six rounds of the Wainwrights!

There was a dicussion on the forum board of the Wainwright Society the other week and it was said that someone had done either 18 or 19 rounds. Must be keen wanting go over Armbroth Fell that many times!!!
