I like mine, it is 4 or 5 years old now and has been a very good tent. I bought it because it was a tad lighter that the Akto. Designed to be versatile I've used mine in winter on Exmoor and in summer in Greece. Easy to roll up the fly from each end and tie it off around the centre pole, really handy in the summer when I use the bugnet inner. Good as a single skin tent as well, roll up one half of the tent and you've an excellent shelter for bivvying. In rough weather I use a pole from an old warmlite tent and that makes the vela incredably stable in the worst of Exmoor weather.

I tried and tried to get one of these but had no luck. I went for an akto in the end.

I do have the vela 2 extreme which has huge porches each side of the sleeping compartment. The tents are very high quality and very light.

    Yes and no.

Yes it is worth the money and no, it is not a lot.

IMHO it is well worth the money. I camp in some extreme conditions and places so want a reliable product.

Hilleberg have been very very helpfull and their customer care is great. They have also been able to help me with some unusual requests.

The tent flysheet is where all the money is as far as I can see. Very high quality. The inner is what you would expect on a tent of this price bracket.

The tent pole is well up to the job and I doubt double a double pole set up would ever be required but, if you need to, or want to, you can!

Bear in mind it is a very warm tent, very light and very strong and well made. It is a specialist item hand made, from some very good materials.

    250-300 quid well spent.
