I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations for campsites in the Peak District?

We're planning on heading up there over the bank holiday, a group of 6 mid-twenties....

Using Hope/Edale as a start point can anyone suggest a good site?

    Thanks in advance....

I always liked Fieldhead campsite (although I haven't been there for years actually) in Edale and Pindale Farm, which is between Castleton and Hope (not on the main road though).

There is also Coopers Farm in Edale, opposite the Nags Head. Where I tend to camp when I go there.

BTW this area gets very busy over the bankholidays and I reccomend that you book now rather than later. Also be prepared for big queues in the two pubs for meals and drinks.

I tend to avoid the peaks and edale in particular over bankholiday periods as you will never appreciate how great the people and place is.

You need to book asap, as stated above.

If the above sites are full, Hardhurst Farm, between Hathersage and Hope is fairly good. 2 mins walk to the pub, and not expensive. Phone to book.

Glad to hear Fieldhead's good, I'm up there on Friday.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I've stayed in one of the rooms at Hardhurst, it was certainly a bunk room type affair south of Hope out towards the cement works....

I'd rather not be going over the bank holiday but sadly needs must.

The first campsite that I always try to use in the Peak District is North Lees. Good shower, clean and fairly quiet. 15 minutes walk into Hathersage and 10 minute walk to Stanage Plantation. I would say that this is nearly perfection!
