I don't know about any of you, but I am getting a little tired of the self appointed "censors" on this site who interject and attempt to stifle some excellent debating between OM members.

This has particular relevance when we get quotes like the sub description of my string.

I enjoy exchanging views with some intelligent people on this site, and despite what some people might think to the contrary, I do take in what some are saying and amend/adopt other viewpoints accordingly.

I have also had the privilege to meet some of the OMers in person, and again have struck up some very interesting conversation, and exchanged views on all matter of subjects, not necessarily on "outdoors" subjects either.

All I can say to those who consistently attempt to turn this site into a "purist" outdoors site only, when you are out on the hills, do you limit your conversations with your companions to matters outdoors only? If you do, then you must have a very boring time!

I do understand the loss of clarity sometimes, and especially when humour is introduced, after all, humour is very subjective. That is why I try to use emoticons where I can.

Another thing that winds me up is when people complain when threads are taken off at a tangent. I have seen some of my threads taken off theme many at time, and I think we should just live with it, it all adds to the tapestry of life in a country where we should be VERY grateful that we can "talk" to each and express our diverse range of views without constantly looking over our shoulder. (metaphorically speaking!)

Finally, if someone doesn't think a topic is not relevant to their interests, then they have the privilege of NOT joining the debate.

Luvly this democratic stuff eh ???

One of the best conversations we ever had on a meet was at the pub in Langors when we stopped talking about outdoors stuff and started talking about music,it was amazing that we all had such a shared history and it turns out so many of us are ex rockers and ex bikers, or in some cases still rocking/ biking.

Must be something to do with the adrenaline?

You got me going now Jules !!!

Off work tomorrow, gonna get my Beemer out and :-

    Get your motor running
    daa daa der-da da
    Head out on the highway
    daa daa der-da da
    Looking for adventure
    daa daa der-da da
    In whatever comes our way

    Chorus
You're not gonna make it happen
All the world is a loving place
Fire all of your guns at once then
    Explode into space

    I like streaking lightning
    A heavy metal thunder
    Wrestling with the wind
And the feeling that I'm under

    Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
    We were flyin' so high,
    I never wanna die

    Born to be wild
    Born to be wild

    I like streaking lightning
    A heavy metal thunder
    Wrestling with the wind
And the feeling that I'm under

You're not gonna make it happen
All the world is a loving place
Fire all of your guns at once then
    Explode into space

    Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
    We were flyin' so high,
    I never wanna die

    Born to be wild
    Born to be wild

Don't be so hard on yourself Alex, you certainly have my respect, it's great to have opinions from the youth of today and to know that not everyone of them is Harry Enfield's "Kevin!"

BTW Alex, Dave got you with that one!

I think he was emphasising the "Stepping" and therefore "walking" connection.

(But I won't let on if you don't!!)
