-Dave- has proposed a day-walk in the Dark Peak area on Sunday October 4. Route to be decided but probably a car-shuffle to allow a one-way walk over Bleaklow probably starting from the summit of Snakes Pass (the A57)

Usual thing: add your name and keep an eye on the thread for more details.

Can't commit just yet - No2 son's birthday, Liverpool Shanty Festival, Goyt Valley Challenge all on the same day.

I need to enter into negotiations....

OK JJ, do you want to add your name as a 'possible'?

Sounds good to me. I might even be able to rope Mrs C into it.

On it like a Car Bonnet.

Can we start from The North or West? Torside or Glossop.

Our side the south and from Snake Pass is proper shit.

    It's looking good

I'm easy about routes. It''d be good to get in some of the Pennine Way and the crash site as well as Bleaklow summit. My neighbours and I are driving up that morning from the south midlands so not too early a start please.

Is a 10.00 (10am) start OK for everyone? Meet from, say, 09.30?

So, meeting Sunday 4th October, along Shepley Street (approx SK13 7RZ) from 0930 for (hopefully) a 10am start.

Route will probably be similar to the link I posted a few days ago which is as follows:

Shepley Street - Doctors Gate - Crooked Clough - Higher Shelf Stones - Hern Stones - Wain Stones - Bleaklow Head - Dog Rock - Dowstone Clough - Shepley Street.

I read there's a path along or down Dowstone Clough that's not on the maps - I'm sure Nick knows the area reasonably well........

Either way, look forward to seeing you all on Sunday

Would've loved to come, last peak district wander I had with you guys was a wash out! But prior engagement on the Saturday prohibits,

Have a great one, weather looks to be on your side at present, here's hoping for sunshine for you all.

OK, the OS grid ref for middle of Shepley Street is SK 0445 9480

The street looks to be factory buildings and factory carparks: Firth Rixon alloy works it seems.

Anyone know the area? If so, where exactly will we meet?

From the east end of Shepley Street a surfaced bridleway leads up to the moors.

    The route sounds good.
