    Hi

me and some friends are are going to Snowdonia over easter and want to do the Glyders circuit while there (start at Ogwen, ascend Glyder Fach vis bristly ridge and so on).

however one of the party is bringing their dog (Labrador), can you get a dog up bristly ridge??

    thanks

    two issues.

    I own a dog so

The dog (if nimble) might be OK, but if it isnt OK, a Labrador isnt really portable in a rucksack (unlike a smaller dog like a Jack Russell)

Then there is the issue of sheep - by Easter they will be back up on the hill and keeping the dog on a lead whilst scrambling will be impracticable if not dangerous.

    so...no...I wouldnt either..

I don't take my dog scrambling unless its very easy (Nanttle Ridge). Y Gribin is still very steep...

How about walking up theBraich y Ddeugwm ridge to Glyder Fach?

    Stay safe and have fun

thanks for the input, i thought it might be a little ambitious with a hound.

what about if we missed bristly ridge out and carried on to the miners track and ascended on glyder fach that way? does that take out most of the scrambling? would a dog get down the scree slope and steps by devils kitchen? (you can tell i don't own or have ever spent any time round dogs)

alternatively what about a loop of the southern carnnedau (start at llyn ogwen, up to carnedd dafyyd, over to carnedd llewellyn and along y braich)?

not done it for years and i remember some very easy scrambling - is it dog friendly?

IIRC there is a shortish steep drop coming off Llewellyn towards Pen yr Helgi du. You may need to lower the dog down that, and the scramble up to Pen yr Helgi du is a little exposed in places. You could always drop off at the saddle and come down to Ffynnon Llugwy res. It's a tarmac road down to the A5 and pretty boring (not recommended in accent) But cuts out the PYHD scramble.
