has any one had both units montana and the oregon 6xx what did you think and is one better than the other.

Like the large screen but as the oregon is a newer unit is it better?

I don't like touchscreens in outdoor GPS-es. They use too much energy to my liking. But I remember that the last generation (the Oregon) is better readable in the sunshine.

    Hi Shane,

No experience with either unit, but i've been looking at upgrading my Edge 705 for a few months now so have been looking around.

Personally i would not buy a GPS that doesn't support GLONASS, my phone (Galaxy S4) is far more accurate, locks on a LOT quicker and stays locked on in rougher terrain and weather than my Edge 705, this is as a result of it having GLONASS support.

As the Montana does not have GLONASS support and the Oregon does i would choose the Oregon out of the 2.

Also take a look at the GPSMAP 64 range, they're based on the GPSMAP 62 a real workhorse of GPS's but have GLONASS support.

    I've just ordered a GPSMAP 64st

Here a simple Etrex 30, Simply because it has the most features (also Glonass) and the lowest energy use.

Usually takes around 1 week for stuff to get here, say another week to test it, so if you want to wait a couple of weeks i'll happily let you know my thoughts on the 64st
