    sure, I understand that.

I only weigh 11kg and am only 3 years old so my joints are young.

At the mo, I'm sleeping on a short piece of closed cell, with a section of pertex/fibre pile buffalo on top. It does well and also I don't have to carry it myself. My walker wont sleep on anything thinner than about 2 inches, but he's pathetic.

Interesting thread. I'm looking for a new mat as I've been using a therma prolite for a long time now. It's ok but I could do with something thicker but still light and I was looking at the neoair. Sadly I'm one of those guys who always gets cold first.

If I was looking for a light, fullsize, winter rated mat where would your money be?

Don't know if this'll help you but a Neoair or multimat or alpkit airbed can all be used in the colder weather with ther addition of a very light and cheap, full length closed foam mat (bit like a Karrimat but ony about 1/8th of an inch thick. Stick on top of the airbed and Bob's your uncle.

Not saying this would be as efficient as an exped or other winter rated airbed but I'd say it might offer a cheaper alternative. Then you could leave the mat behind during the warmewr weather.

Thanks Jim. I'm up in the lakes atm and thats something somebody said in one of the indie pro mountain shops. I need something for all year backpacking and the occasional winter camp.
