    A very nice pair of hills, Dave. Never heard of them until now - they're definitely going on my 'to do' list though.

    They're lovely hills. Some nice photos too. Good to see the weather was decent in the middle of the country too

    (The forecasts for the Lakes have been astonishingly hostile.).

    Easy to do by railway in a loop from Buxton too. Some longer loops possible too, like going out to high Wheldon and then back round via Deep/wyedale. Or just clambering up hollins hill too.

    iirc from reading the open access book about this was that there was always a footpath on Chrome hill but nothing on parkhouse?

    Martin - you're probably right most of my research comes from the venerable wikipedia which has words to the effect of 'declared access land in 2000 but still only actually accessible by one concessionarypath'. Perhaps that path has been there a lot longer than it's been access land.

    As for Parkhouse, there's definately a path there now!
