Anyone got a Phoenix Phreeranger for sale? Been looking for a while and just found that one had sold on Ebay last week. Bah!

Let me know if you have one clogging up a cupboard!

    Cheers,

    Dave

I'm after the EB version. Was tempted by that one on eBay though.

Like Mr Justice says. Makes it a bit more practical.

Absolutely baffling why no company is making one similar (Who owns the rights?).

A TarpTent Rainbow looks uncannily similar (assuming I'm looking at the right photies of a Phreeranger!).

Yeah, it's very close, but I have a few concerns about it that is putting me off buying blindly. If one was going for a decent price or I could have a play with one, I might take a chance.

I've just dug mine out of the cupboard and am hoping it's still useable as inside of fly is peeling. Have also lost short pole but should be able to find something to fit. Was a fab tent

Only just got back on here today, sorry I haven't replied sooner. How bad is the peeling? Any idea how much you'd want for it? (I'm assuming you're offering it!)

    Cheers.

F****ng Alpine parakeets came to mind when i started reading this thread and the very old memory of me and a old hill walking friend woke up for the first time in our space age single-skin, lightweight 2 man Goretex tent before i even joined the army at 19 years old.

My friend mark and i managed to scrape together back in the 90s £190 ! (big bucks back then when we where tender teens) and we became the proud owners of a gortex tent that i had almost erased from my memory like anything else that had left a sour taste in my mouth

The kindest thing I can think of to say about it is that it had its little habits

Take two healthy and fit young men (making allowances for fags, drink, and substance abuse)

Put them into sleeping bags and place them in a single-skin Goretex tent for the night. Let's say that their combined breath contains 1 litre of water, which I think is probably a very conservative guess, and that moisture condenses on the inside of a tent‚?¶

You can see where this is going, can't you?

The first time the tent was used, I awoke in the morning to discover it was raining inside the tent

But, wonder of wonders, when the sleeping bags were unzipped we witnessed the moisture actually permeate through the fabric. Unfortunately it was too late, as our sleeping bags, and everything else stored inside was already soaking wet.

From that day on we vowed never to become f*****g Alpine parakeets ever again and parmed it off to next poor sod who had the cash to buy it.I have few good memories of that gortex tropical ecosystem and probably never will...

    Goretex, my arse !!

P.S it was not a Phoenix Phreeranger

Just cleared my garage and discovered my original phreeranger. Been tucked away for 23 years. Pitched yesterday. Rained overnight. Completely waterproof. All original parts. Used it to travel around America for 4 weeks. Great to see it pitched again.

Hi 27. I bet that brought some memory's flooding back for you!

Its survived well if its still ok, most have failed flysheet coatings by now. The seam tape flakes/drops off or the coating fails or usualy both!

So your lucky to have one thats still ok.

Of all the Phoenix Phreerangers i've seen for sale in recent years, purchased myself or have aquired i've only one thats still useable!

Look after it, happy camping .

Trekkertent are doing a improved, lighter version of the Phreeranger.
