This is one of two Lake District OM camping meets (the other is at Wasdale Head, 14-16 June).

This meet will be at the National Trust Great Langdale campsite (NY287058). Like the meet at Wasdale Head, it will be informal - you can either contact the campsite to pre-book a pitch or just turn up and take pot luck (but the school half-term means the campsite may be fairly full).

Two slight caveats. Firstly, the campsite is not cheap. But we'll only be there two nights, the location is superb, and the facilities are very good (and include two drying rooms). Secondly, there is a restriction on group size so if you book please follow Little Miss Maria's advice on her Wasdale thread: "Just turn up at the campsite and pretend we don't know each other.... stealth mode."

There are two pubs a few minutes walk from the campsite - the famous ODG (Old Hotel) and the Stickle Barn Tavern - so we'll have convivial places to spend the evening. Also, it gives us the choice to cook on the campsite or eat at the pub.

Ambleside is fifteen minutes's drive from the campsite and is a good place to get provisions (or go gear shopping) on the way to the meet.

Routes: There's no shortage of great walks from the campsite - we'll be really spoilt for choice. Over Pike O'Blisco to Crinkle Crags; up The Band to Bowfell and Esk Pike; up over Rosset Pass to Esk Hause and the Scafells; several routes up to the Langdale Pikes; the Langdale skyline along Blea Rigg and down to Silver Howe or north beyond the Pikes to Sergeant Man and High Raise.

Note: to get the thread going, I've copied the list below from the previous thread. Please check if you're on the list then confirm or ammend if necessary. Ta.

PS: Talking of routes, for anyone unfamiliar with the area I'd happily rustle up a little tour of some nice bits for the Saturday. Fr'instance we could nip up over Blisco to the Crinkles, amble along the ridge (taking in the Bad Step en route) to Three Tarns, then across to the Climbers Traverse and up the Great Slab to Bowfell summit, returning via Esk Pike, Angle Tarn and Rossett Pass.

Well having seen the price of the campsite I thought I'd check to see what other options there might be and found Robinson Place Farm which is offering B&B at £26 pppn and there was no single supplement for the Tiger Cub so we've booked 2 rooms It's about a mile and a half away from the campsite/ODG but I'm sure we'll manage to meet up with you all! I believe they have 4 rooms in total so if anyone else fancies it feel free to contact them to see if they still have availability!

I don't think you can go far wrong at that price! Pity about no pets but I suspect they may have one or two dugs of their own!

I've driven past the entrance to Robinson Place many times, of course. Bed and breakfast for £26 a night each is a bargain I reckon. Hope you are very comfortable there - if it's pissing down with rain as you sit in a warm dry dining room enjoying your full English spare a thought for us campers sploshing about the sodden campsite.

Undoubtedly. In one of the pubs on the Friday evening first then for a day's walking on the Saturday morning?

Been to Robinson's Place a few times, simple but cosy. The lady running the farm also knits all sorts of jumpers in Herdwick sheep wool, if you like rugged stuff, it's for you...

Wonder if she does rugs too?

Must pop along and have a look at the Herdy wares.

(not that I'm obsessed or anything)

I only have 3 Herdy keyrings, a mug and a pen so far.

That's good to hear MS, I'll leave it to others to comment on whether I like rugged stuff!
