    A few pic from our trip to the carnedds last thursday,only got halfway up crib lem spur before turning back due to the snow/ice,then followwed a "gentle" stroll up to a top to the side of Yr ellen.Very scenic, but not much fun.

    Don't see why you've used the word fail - sounds like you had a great day and made a decent decision not to carry on. I'd call that a win in my book.

    Far more sensible (and honorable) to accept your limitations and adapt your plans to the conditions than to forge on regardless and end up in a helicopter or a bodybag.

    Like Kelvin says, it looks like a grand day out. No 'fail' about it IMO.

    fail, probably bit harsh then,was almost becoming un enjoyable on the trudge up the side of Yr ellen, cant remember what its called,was far steeper than it looked,will have to return in better weather or gear,

    Wimping out is not a fail - your primary objective should always to get back n one piece.

    When discussing log book experience during my ML assessment, I was quite clear that I had frequently not reached the planned summit on walks - the point was that I was able to justify the decisions even if only in terms of participants' enjoyment of time in the hills.

    Bamba cracking shots and looks like a great day had.

    I once drove from Lancashire to the Carnneds 150 miles and walked no more tham 1/4 of a mile from Bethesda only to turn around and head home,this was due to gale force winds knocking us on our feet and this was about 300ft asl...

    I dont class these as fails but good choice bails,there too do another day.
