I usually walk fast, so I'm looking forward to a slower pace, taking time for photos for a change! Cheers, Dave

Well, we certainly won't be going at rescue pace (and we'll have catch-up stops and snack breaks). But given the distance to be covered and the short daylight hours we won't be dawdling - we'll need to walk at a reasonably steady pace.

Anyone thinking of camping in the area the night before (Saturday) to avoid too much travel on the Sunday morning? That arrangement worked well at Malvern.

As it's a one-way route, we need to arrange whuch cars will be left at which end. That's possibly best done on the day but I'll give it a bit of thought.

So who else is interested in camping the night before? So far the list is

    Smoky (Teesdale Viking)
    Skip
    Andrew

Helen says she'll be driving from home to the start point on the Sunday morning.

I think Smoky might have a campsite in mind.

If there's a handy campsite it might well make me more of a 'yes' for this one. Just driving up for one day isn't really cost effective for mefuel wise. I'll firm things up a bit once I've recovered from the Snowdonia weekend (well, four day's worth for me).

Yes, Pete, do come along. I would much rather camp the night before than have a mad rush in the morning. I'm giving them an idea as we go along how many people are interested and they are putting it in their diary (you can't book this place).

TV, any chance of a link to the camp site'shome page, ortheir name and a grid reference? You'll probably think I'm odd (I probably am) but it helps me toconvince myself that I should commit to these meets if I can plan to have a few days away, even if I don't really have spare dosh. Last minute college sh*tcould still prove to be anegative (short notice lesson observations and associated pressure to 'perform').

Well, I had hoped to return to the very nicely situated Botvyle Farm but, unfortunately, it closes for winter so, having been thwarted in summer by hordes, I decided to try getting in here while it was quieter.

I walked the Shropshire way in mid september. I found walking along the Stiperstones past the Devils Chair very slow going. All the soil on the paths has eroded leaving them very rocky. You've got to be careful where you put your feet.

Teesdale Viking Foxholes has a bunk barn that will take 6, I think its £40 booked or £10pp.

    Enjoy yourselves
