I'll mention it to George the warden. Didn't notice any leaks when I was staining them back in April but it wasn't raining mental that day.

Ta Kelvin. Perhaps it had already been reported and dealt with by the time you got staining.

Chewie, stuff I'm refering to isn't the "clear stuff", AKA Rocket Fuel, Poteen, etc.

I'm bringing legal "water of life", made in Isle of Islay.

MM, and myself, after a 500ml bottle of 48%, enjoyed a 300ml bottle of the 58% I brought to the Galtees meet. Might be why he didn't feel as cold the last night

(Not counting the "clothes" he "borrowed")..... Eh Mal.........

    Ok, I'm booked to Holyhead,

I'll have to wait on Wales travel site to get far enough to book rest to Capel Curig.

The Ferry I get, (find out 2days in advance), could be at HH by 0230 or as late as 0800, so I reckon it's more sensible for me to make my own way to CC.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like snow and ice, from mid to top.

Gonna bring 'pons and axe anyway!!

NB. (to all on Galtees meet, only got 4 'used' gas cans left !!)

Oh what's the name of Pub?

Right I'm baffelled, can't find if I can get to Capel Curig from Holyhead.

The place names are in Welsh, and don't mention CC.

Would I have to travel to some place else to get to CC?

    Can our Welsh OMer's help?
I bvelieve you could get the train to Bangor then thebus to Bethesda then another (or possibly the same bus) that takes you to capel curig

Huskyman... you want Traveline Cymru to do all your donkey work. From what I can gather, Holyhead to Capel Curig is going to involve a minimum of one train and two buses, taking anything from 2¬Ĺ to 3¬Ĺ hours to complete. So long as you're on the train by 1544, you'll reach Capel Curig by 1800 on Friday. Amazingly, you can get the reverse journey done even on Sundays.

Becky, the weather could be anything: there could be snow and ice, there could just be a bit of it on the tops. There could be nothing at all, and indeed in mid November you're more likely to have either lashing rain or clear autumnal days with no snow and ice in sight. otoh, this being Wales, it'll be mizzle the whole time

    very true!

OH Huskyman, make sure there is a bus all the way to capel curig, as I've been stranded and had to hitch due to last buses from betws and bethesda later in the season being at about 3 in the afternoon(Although there always seems to be someone that picks you up eventually!)

The best way for me to get to CC from HH, according to Travel Cymru, is a train to Landidno?, then bus that takes me to CC.

I can't check times yet as it does not go that far in advance yet.

I'll get there, even if I have to hitch.

Re kit. Temps. on hills could be well below zero, or not much above that time of year.

I'd take a set of heavyweightbaselayers and a set of midweight ones. That should cover you, take a close fitting midweight fleece, (heavy, if you run 'cold'). Waterproof Jacket and Trousers.

Boot wise, 3 season boots would be recommended.

If you haven't used or got skills to use crampons and axe, I'm sure there will be lowerroutes where you don't need them.

I'd almost bet money on there not being snow on the 16th Nov - it's rare as hen's teeth then and I'm expecting an indian summer to be honest, a long one.

Holyhead to Capel Curig is an hour's drive in a car, so I'd leave half a day for the journey if you're using public transport. The buses can be pretty useless in the winter months too.

I would like to join my first OM meet if I can. I'm hoping to be doing my ML assessment at plas y brenin 2 weeks after the meet so a last minute trip will be good preparation.

I would be happy to lead a walk or be led.

Might be up there a day it two before wildcamping if anyone is interested in joining me.

    Cheers

    Paul

I'll leave it to the locals but watching the weather over the past few years the earliest snow south of the border is on Helvellyn usually the first week in December. It's rare to see any snow before that and Snowdonia doesn't seem to get as much snow as the Lakes. (based on my limited observations through webcams.)
