Hi folks, Can anyone recommend a town or village somewhere around the Cairngorms that has good pubs and restaurants, I checked our Aviemore but the hotels are robbery. Cheers, Stephen

We got a good deal in Carrbridge here...

That was just before the Scots schools came off on holiday so it would have been out of season, so robably more at the mo. They had a pretty serviceable bar.

    Pete.

Good man Pete, will check it out.

I don't mind where we stay once it's near the mountains and a pub but the Mrs wants somewhere fancy

I stayed at the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore recently and thought it pretty good value....mind you I had just walked 17 miles...

www.aviemore-bunkhouse.com have double rooms for £50 and is next to the pub.

OR if you want fancy and not that expensive the Aviemore highland resort is good.

If it doesn't have to be the northern Cairngorms there are often decent deals to be had at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Blair Atholl.

Ah now, if the Mrs wants somewhere "fancy" then you need to have a look at the Dalmunzie.

    I would

Dalmunzie. -I've been planning a 3 Munro raid from there. So walking no problem!
