Sam, I know Kate is the "Guru" for the area, but I will PM you the route Glenn and I did back in Feb, when it was minus 8 . Very quiet compared to Pen Y Fan - but not difficult

As said before, if you fancy any of the meets and I am heading up, let me know and you could get the train to somewhere I could pick you up somewhere.

    Great news Bob.
I live where floods are regular, even I dont use that excuse but I would let you off the plague one.

I promise not to overload on the sausages, but am sure we will have a good mix of stuff in the end. Oh, reminds me, must get some malt!!

Possible change of plan here. I may be able to drive over on Saturday aftenoon. Obviously I'll miss the Saturday walk but could join y'all for the fun and frolics on Saturday evening. I take it that you'll be on the campsite at Dan yr Ogof Showcaves on the A4067 (as detailed on the first post in this thread)? Are there any walks planned for the Sunday?

I'll definately be walking somewhere on Sunday Skip, but nothing planned. I was going to wait and see what others want to do when we're there. May be Kate and Chewie have some ideas.

    Kate is the brains

I phoned to change the numbers provisionally and was told that there will be music until 11.30 as there is a party celebrating 100 years of something.

Didnt think that would be a problem, and an improvement on Nuns Cross

Chewie, are we aiming to pitch on a particular area of the site? I've only been there once before, but recall an 'upper' level to the west (left) of the loo block and another 'lower' area to the south, with touring van pitches also dotted around.

Blimey, that was a palaver! Took about 5 minutes to load the page, I think some advert is slowing things down.

Usually tent campers are in the first couple of bays next to the Weird Mutant Animals enclosure and the grave of Mr Dick. It's the first section of camping you come to as you drive into the site.

And yes, I'm sure there'll be a walk on the sunday; I may go for a walk round some of the waterfalls at Ystradfellte, but I'm not planning a guided walk per se - if people want to plan their own walks, they should! I'm happy to provide input if people have particular interests (eg: air crash sites, quarries, especially boggy bits, sink holes).

Typical cheek from the bloody Cornish contingent! The correct response is "Whoopee" surely? After all, every camp needs someone to set the dress standard.

    Hi Kate and Chewie,

I am an OM newcomer and , therefore, would also be a meet first timer and would like to come along as I am partial to the odd waterfall and it's a part of Wales I would like to explore. I won't be able to arrive until Saturday and will be bringing along my faithful companion. Look forward to meeting you all next weekend.

Do you mean some scrawney old geezer with Steptoe gloves or your affable pedigree Black Fellhound?

List looks bang on with what I thought, there might me an increase one or possibly 2 of my "alledged" mates who are threatening to come and spend the weekend with us

Plan at tthe moment, is fend for yourselves on Friday night and meet/eat in the pub (5 min walk) as everyone will be arriving a different times, and then BBQ on Saturday weather permitting, will look at the forecast towards the end of the week and if needed will review the plan.

I will bring the Chez Chewie AKA "party tent" (which is a bit kanckered now but should do the job, though 11 bodies will be a bit cosey. Metric Kate wrote (see)

If I recall, great opportunity for wild swimming - and a rope swing for the "adventurous" to hurl themselves off into the river naming no names!!

Only 4 nights to go WHOO HOO

    Two nights for me.

As I don't believe the pictures of the bloggers, how will we recognize each other in the pub!

Looks like the weather may be kind and not like today!

How many arriving before tea time?

I will speak to them tomorrow and ask if we can have an " exclusive" area

I should be there around 6 to 6.30 and will arrange for Chez Chewie to be noticeable in some way.

I will also pm my mobile to all that haven't got it already,
