Well done to Montane for an innovative - and good-looking - way to support MR :-)

Indeed. I got some of the powershield pants and they're fab. Good to know that I got a good deal and MRT benefited too. Shame other UK based companies can't do this...are you listening ME, Berghaus, Sprayway etc etc.......

To be fair, different brands suppport mountain rescue in different ways. A lot of UK brands, for example, supply clothing to teams either gratis or at cost/similarly reduced price and/or make de factor donations and contributions by various mechanisms.

That said, the Montane initiative was a cracking idea and a little bit different.

Well I forgot my softshell one walk and needed something to stop wind going through my microfleece that I travelled up in. I dropped into Climbers shop and looked for the cheapest windshirt I could find. Then turned to their big MOntane MRT display and saw it had a lovely black and red zipped windshirt with a hood. Well I was sold on that and it has to be one of my best ever purchases AND MRT got some money too. That was a big bonus indeed I thought.

All I can say is Montane did a good thing that way and it must have also benefitted too in promotion in stores. IMHO the MRT limited edition were actually better looking than normal versions. I did look at the other MRT stuff but nothingelse was neededor rather justified. You are always needing nice red and black MRT supporting outdoor clothing IMHO. I wish they'd keep it up. I mean it is a good thing to do like the 1% of profits the likes of Patagucci donate. It all helps.

I think that Mountain Equipment did a special edition Kongur jacket a while ago to support mountain rescue.

I thought it was just a special MRT specific jacket with added features that MRT's wld find useful. These included a harder wearing face fabric, reflective strips or beading and something abt the pockets too. It wasn't the same as the Montane limited editions although they probably sold them with a bigger discount to MRT's. Afaik no profit went to MRT.
Montane also made MRT versions of their superfly xt. This also had more visibility features added to a red version.
I think it was the profits going to MRT and the cheaper price than normal version due to not adding the design costs that made this,Montane thing so interesting. I personally believe it to be a worthy business model to support charities on a limited run basis. If other manufacturers copied it for other charities it wld be gd.
