Yesterday, while browsing in a Tog 24 shop the assistant told me about a Rab 'Samples' outlet in Derby that sells greatly reduced Rab gear. I've googled it, but without success. Has anyone got the gen on this place?

    Cheers

The only RAB outlet I know of is at their factory in Somercotes, off the A38 in Derbyshire.

I've put the full address on OM in the past.

Probably means the Rab shop at Alfreton just off the A38 in Derbyshire. Seems to sell lots of samples and some oversupply stock. I THINK it's open Tuesdays and Thursdays 1000-1400, but I could be wrong. You have to take your chances on stock as they (to protect their sellers) won't tell you what they have in at any time. Had a few bargins from there.

    Hi Chris,

The hours are wrong. I know as I remember sitting outside waiting for 12.00 opening.

Never been, but I took this note from a previous post some time ago. Should at least get you in the right area, but can't guarantee the opening times are current...

"The factory shop is at Wimsey Way, Alfreton, open Weds & Thurs 12.30-15.30 every week."

For those interested the RAB Outlet warehouse is a great place to pick up a bargain. Its abit cloak and dagger - opening hours are Wednesday and Thursday 12:30 - 15:30
Take the Somercotes/ Alfreton exit off the A38. Turn left, and then immediately right before MacDonalds. This takes you onto the industrial park. Follow the road to the end & turn left. Stay on this road until it ends and you see a company building called KABA directly infront of you. Turn right into the gates of a building called Equip and park up. Your there.....
You have to press the bell to gain entry and sign the guest book when entering & leaving the building. The shop is on the 1st floor up the stairs.

    Hi,

I've been on an open day there where they invited 'friends of RAB' along and it was huge. The discounts were amazing, including sample stuff. I picked up a 200 primaloft jacket from there for 55!!! The shop in the week is smaller but there is still a chance for a bargain or two, especially Lowe Alpine bags, RAB base layers and waterproofs...

Yes it is, still on a Wednesday and a Thursday afternoon. That said, I've not been for a few years but my dad goes fairly frequently and reports that the bargains are not what they used to be e.g. fleeces used to be 10, they're now 30. Also they generally have a very limited range of sizes, related to the sizes they use for samples. For men it's large and I think 12 for women. So, loads of stuff in those sizes and very little else by the sound of it.

Still open, wednesdays and thursdays, 12.30 -15.30, as expected like all outlet stores, it' gone bigger and more pricey, a few years ago it was obviously trial garments with minor floors and imperfections, now there' nothing wrong with the kit (a good thing) but also doubled in price. I don't expect things for free but I have picked up many of the items online at a similar price, after some digging, that said if you live local it's fine, if you have to travel some distance, you will end up buying something like I did, just to convince yourself the trip wasn't wasted, guess I'm the mug.
