Imagine the scene - early evening of a bitterly cold winter day in Jockshire, having to stand around in the open with an east wind blowing while someone "important" shakes everyone's hand followed by thousands of drunks singing patriotic songs. Only then can you start to get warm again by actually playing.

It'll be an interesting game but I don't think the weather will do much to bring out the attacking potential of England's outsides.

Frum, are you reminiscing about Culloden again?

Is 'Swing Low' a patriotic song?

The wind is blasting in from the North West (in upper Clydesdale) with sleet in it. Right horrible. Will it make any difference east / north west ?? for the match.
But yes, it's proper Scottish weather specially laid on to dampen the spirits of the soft southern English.

My son will be in the crowd, wearing all his outdoors gear to survive.

I was reading this morning that Murrayfield has the property of allowing the wind to to change direction to whichever is most advantageous to Scotland at any given moment.

As for weather to dampen opposition spirits, that tactic would be most effective against Wales, who play indoor Rugby most of the time.

Whereas the Welsh accuse the English of mostly playing pocket billiards...

Hubby has just informed me the Scots have another tactic up their sleeve. No comfy pre match pep talk for the visiting team at Murrayfield. There's a girt big pillar in the middle of the visiting teams changing room.

No place like OM for a solid, serious discussion of Rugby tactics and the relative skills of individual players.

i thought it very considerate of her, there's nothing worse than a long drive home in the dark, the snow, the cold, and having lost.

Watch out for the English this season.

Dependant on today's game, they are either going to bomb..............................or be the surprise package of this season's six nations!

They have absolutely NOTHING to loose, which is when teams can become dangerous!

Usually it's zombie threads being resurrected by the living.

An interesting counterpoint of a current thread resurrecting a zombie poster!

    Afternoon Tony.

I just knew there would be such a thread here, and I knew I would find my old friend in sport involved in it.

    How's everything Frum?
