Privatehudson - You are not alone. That is what hit my mind too. I have never met Didster but I now have an image of either a diddyman or a Ken Dodd lookalike for him. No offence dids. I've only got just under a year before I can dispel that image!!

Dids, will that be you and all the family camping - no indoor accommodation required?

I'm not bothered by black sail, i need to in a respectable state come sunday.

The other year i drove up from Nottingham after a 12 hour night shift and after the service i went on a jaunt around the fells, never been so knackered on the drive home.

I think speed is better than red bull though

    Black Sail hut now booked

    OK, we're on!

I have booked the YHA's Black Sail hut for the Remembrance Day weekend 2012. Arrival is from 4pm on Friday 9 November; departure is by 12 noon on Sunday 11 Nov.

There is accommodation for up to 16 people. We'll divide the hire charge equally between those who are staying in the hut. So the price per person will depend on how many attend but if we attract 16 it will be £33 each for the two nights.

For those who prefer to camp, the YHA doesn't allow tents right by the hostel so you'll need to pitch a bit further away (obviously if you camp there is nothing to pay).

One drawback is that dogs aren't allowed inside any YHA property.

Here is some more info about Black Sail. Note that it's quite a distance from the nearest car parking so you have to walk in with your gear.

The nearby tops include Haystacks, Fleetwith Pike, High Crag, Grey Knotts, Brandreth, Green Gable and Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Pillar and so on - lots of routes and summits beckoning from the doorstep!

I must say I was surprised too, Kate - surprised and rather relieved! Now all we need is another half-a-dozen folk to join us!

Roll up, roll up! Places left!

Whiskey mate. Think of it as liquid hangover in a bottle, but nicer. Lot less volume and weight.

I'd definitely prefer the Hostel. As much as I like the idea of wild camping I'd probably freeze to death in my tent set up at that time of year!

Yeah, we seem to be gluttons for it. But what a fantastic location!

I'll keep the list updated and, later in the year, step up the recruitment campaign.
