See what happens. Those days don't have any public transport, so they're no use to me anyway (except for the seasonal festivities). At some point I'll probably find myself heading for Pendle Hill, Calderdale, or any of the moors on the Lancs/Yorks watershed... especially if they're frozen solid.

Yes, Darwen Tower. It looks a bit different at the moment, since the top blew off it

    Top gone

The Bomber Memorial is a fine sight. Last visit, there was a letter from one of the crew's Australian relatives who'd been to visit.

I love the walking around there. There's a cricket club White Coppice, that must be the most picturesque there is.

It's a grand area with plenty to explore, sure enough. It used to be one of my 'local' haunts when I lived off the M6 in N. Cheshire, but now we're over in Wales I don't get there often.

I've cycled around there. I know the one - you're right, there no prettier place to see a cricket match. Good pies there, too, if I remember correctly

Some nice pubs around there too, when I go walking solo up Anglezarke (missus drops me and goes to Wigan for the football), I meet her at the Bay Horse, easily walkable from the foot of Anglezarke. The "Cumberland Ale" is always in top conditions and they have a fire roaring most of the times.

You best not repeat that to my missus, even being a Saints fan might not save you...

It certainly is possible for the Xmas meet. Week-ends only for day walk but if you fancy discovering Anglezarke by night....

Already replied in the thread, a definetely maybe shall we say...

Alias is partly due to my liking for night hiking but I like the song too...(been recycled on the continent as a football song which I really enjoyed singing).

    Missus can't stand them
