In a rare show of measurement systems unity, Imperial Dave and Metric Kate are uniting to bring you, at extremely short notice, a Brecon Beacons OM meet next weekend.

Other than hoping to have a wildcamp on the saturday night, we haven't really organised anything, not even a campsite yet! But we're vaguely thinking of Pencelli for people who want a campsite rather than a Welsh hillside.

Post up if you're interested or wish to make any (sensible) suggestions

Probably won't make this one unless the forecast really rainy... (supposed to be going to Cornwall camping with family)

But I can recommend this campsite which isn't far from Pencelli - we stayed there over Easter and had a great time- no pub within walking distance, or showers, but beautiful setting, lovely owner/farmer - allows fires - supplies decent firewood, stream to swim in and you can walk straight up to Fan y Big etc. from the farm...(4 a head)

We had a look at Pencelli Castle site but were put off by the plethora of Signs with rules/instructions before we even got to look at the 'very tidy' pitches . (also it's a tenner per person...)

    Have a good time folks.

I could make this one but I'm still getting over yet another chest infection so I'd have to take it easy.

Ok, Imperial Dave has done some rootling around, and we're going for Grawen Campsite which is conveniently just off the A470. It looks like people will be at the campsite both Friday and Saturday night, with the option of wildcampers heading off on the Saturday. The campsite provides easy access to the central escarpment of the Brecon Beacons as well as Fan Fawr, Ystradfellte and a range of Forestry walks at Garwnant (provided the walks were kept open when they shut the visitor centre. (Grrrr @ Forestry Commission).

Usual OM thing of turn up Friday night, decide on walks for the Sat / do your own thing etc. If the weather's crap, there's always the Penderyn Distillery to visit...

Please note that pubs (Vaynor, Ponsticill or Penderyn) are a couple of miles away, so it's drive / long-distance stagger or eat on site.

As it's only a few days away, it seems a waste of virtual space to start a 'who's coming' thread, so here's a who's coming list which you can add to:

Hopefully me too - fingers crossed. I might have other things to be doing not quite so far from home though.
