    They really are shocking!

Thats my second pair of karrimors done in after about 50 miles of walking. This time its peak event fabric boots.

The second or third time i wore them they started making a clicking noise ocasionally.Today i noticed they were tore along the side for about 40mm.So i started looking inside the boots and theres like apiece of plastic on top of the sole too make it more rigid which has snapped and it was this that was clicking and i think has rubbed away at the side of boot causing the tear. The other boot is also clicking but has not tore yet.

Am i just unlucky with these boots?

I cant seem too get a pic too upload as its too big.

Karrimor today is not the Karrimor of old.

How about buying boots from a Bootmaker.

I,m actually just thinking of sending them too trading standards too stop others being ripped off with this rubbish gear.
The best of it is is i,ve got another pair of brand new karrimor boots on top of my wardrobe which i will need too start wearing now(they have the same sole).
If these dont last i will be looking for the individual responsible for this horrendous boot maker and all three pairs will be inserted where the sun dont shine.
I may need some help if hes a fat bloke.

Karrimor don't exist as such anymore Eddie. The Karrimor label gets stuck on all sorts of rubbish.

i would recommend a boot maker also, ive used altberg in richmond, nth yorks. they are highly thought of by military, emergency services and walkers. one pair of boots can last up to 5 years with a couple of sole changes. they become part of your body eventually..

The original KSB boots were made by Garmont in Italy I believe. I have a couple of pairs of their boots & they are nicely put together. You could do a lot worse! Oh... it seems you did ...

One pair of my original Karrimor KSB's from the early nineties is still wearable!!!! Their stuff today I'd not bother with as there are simply just so many other good outdoors bootmakers to choose from nowadays!

As everyone else has pointed out Karrimor are now a shadow of their former self, I wouldn't be going near any of their these days, but last year ('07) needed a cheap pair of boots quick and got a pair of fabric KSB with eVent lining.

For £40 theyre actually quite good, wouldn't have bought them for their RRP of £120, but the vibram sole has lasted well enough, 200 miles atleast in them with plenty to spare, fairly waterproof andd comfy from the start.

    Maybe I was just lucky?!!

Oh i forgot too pick you up on the "fairly waterproof" comment.

Something is either waterproof or not.

I've got a pair of KSBs' and they are the most comfortable, waterproof boots I've ever worn.

As mentioned - I doubt I'd ever trust the Karrimor brand again though after seeing their stuff in Sportsworld and reading comments here.

There are many good brands - no need to take a chance.

I have a pair of KSB Mountains. Purchased in 1984 they are still going strong - I last wore them on a walk on Dartmoor at xmas.

I dont know who Karrimor are now - their elite rucksacs look good. I did get a pair of karrimor trainers which arent that surdy, to say the least.

Well, how long you had them? Do you think it is a fault in the manufacturing of the footwear? If so, then perhaps yes.
