    Question Sleeping Mat Repair kit

    hi

any recommendations for sleeping mat repair kits?
thinking patch and glue is best?

it's only a cheapish mat so don't need to spend big if possible

if it bursts again i'm buying a therm-a-rest

Hi - you don’t say what model/kind/material mat is; but as a general case a clear urethane glue will do the job - f’rinstance

For how-to-mend, check out Exped’s videos (focused on inflatable pads, their glue is urethane) - technique holds true for most pads.

thanks, i ended up buying some tenacious tape. it seems to hold ok but for a long lasting fix i think i'll need to have a layer of glue over it so i'll look into this

it's one of the self inflating nylon mats with the sponge cushioning .

For an expensive mat such as my Exped down mat I'd always go for the manufacturer's own kit. I've got patches on my Exped that were required after my daft dog stuck his claws through it on the day I got it - they're still going strong after roughly 10 years of good use.
For a cheap mat I'd probably opt for a cheap option like a bicycle puncture repair kit or inflatable pool repair kit. Just check the glue suits the material of the mat and prep the surface properly before applying.
