Haven't ventured to the newsagents yet so can't comment. Trust the beard count is up to usual standards.

The recent beard count has been lamentable Lloyd. I sort of blame myself, as soon as we started taking the piss out them on the Virtual Magazine Rack, they just started disappearing. John Manning even shaved his off and both Cameron McNeish and Chris T have had their pics doctored to make their very real beards less obvious. It's a shocking indictment of, erm, something. I blame young people with their loud music and ridiculous clothes.

Ben, Outside the US Mag everyone raves about, I think only the bigger WHSmiths sell it.

This/last month's AT is a good read. There's a nice piece on Klettersteig in Austria and an excellent tirade against ramblers.

Outside, hard to find except in exotic central London newsagents, though you can subscrible online at the web site:
    www.outsidemag.com
It also carries the full contents of the previous month's issue, so you can browse through and get an idea of whether you think it's worth subscribing. Once you are a subscriber, you can renew for two years at a cost of around 60 USD which is pretty good value.

It's quite American, as you'd expect, but the quality of some of the writing is superb. It's also more of an 'outdoor lifestyle' mag than a straight, hands-on outdoor magazine in the British style, so don't expect routes and narrative descriptions of the Pennine Way.

Secon Mikes vote on AT. The bit about ramblers is very funny.

    Unless you're a rambler I suppose.

After the reaction to last issues piece on Bolting routes, I wonder how much flack they'll receive from ramblers next issue?
