The only reason I subscrided to Trout and SAlmon was because I got a free reel...

I expect if the gift were tempting enough I may subscribe to Trail and then criticise it every month.

Having now lost the plot entirely, I shall repair to the kitchen to make a wet of tea.

Oh Bugger it! My akto thread has turned into the dreaded tumble weed catagory...

Going back to the flap nearest to you - And BTW the 4 is the one to go for.

1- use a longer than standard pole tensioning cord and tie a loop in the cord near where the inner tent meets the ground. Hook the toe to this. ( a bit tricky)

2- Use a tent peg, preferably one of those dome topped ones you see on campsites...(avoids damaging tent but you have that embarrasing peg)

3 - Just let it flap, well why not ( but er very anoying when you push gear out onto the toe you end up with a crumpled mass of materieal doing no good what so ever.

4 Use a peice of elastic (from an old tent pole etc, and run this under the tent from the oposite side with just enough tension to hold the toe firmly in place. This is great when you normally take the toe with you as it will pitch perfectly every time providing you have used the plastic togle method of attaching the other two corners as per the inner tent.

...which shouldn't be a problem when you consider there's about 6" of excess cord at either end

Well, as an Akto owner, it's nice to know I made a sound investment, but paying £153 for a tent in those conditions is a bit daft, innit. 20 quid more and you can get a spanking new LC at the Outdoor Shop. Snobbery or what.

Yes i now I can measure my own, but I know you will have measured yours....

That is basing it on a 165mm pole spread

    Doh!

How many times FB, it's 165.111111111112343567998mm!

Glyn, I would check you have not overtightened the cord you say has 6 inches of excess as my tent only had a couple of inches either end to spare. Have you overtensioned the pole? More likely the cord on your tent was simply cut longer at the factory.

As to the carbon peg idea from MIKE, well I am all for shaving weight but any normal peg in the vacinity of the inner tent groundsheet could possibly cause damage to the tent if you were to say roll over on it in the night.

I know i have 'super' powers Hayden, but i've never managed to leave a tent without opening the door.

Hayden thinks you might roll onto the toe-print during the night.
