Being fairly fit but approaching 60 years old I find that I really feel the cold far more than I used to. I'm looking for a really warm jacket that will keep me warm as toast in the worst possible winter weather when I would normally not want to bother venturing out of the house. The jacket will be used on daily dog walks and for stargazing sessions sometimes stood around a telescope in a freezing cold field all night long. I am willing to spend a substantial amount of money to keep warm and have been considering a Rab Batura jacket. Having tried on a Batura I feel that it would suit my purposes nicely despite me looking like "Nanook of the North", as this seems to be the type of jacket for serious polar expeditions. I'd be interested in any comments on my requirements and this particular jacket before I spend such a large amount of money.
Thank you.
