Heading out to the Picos next week to walk the circuit with some side trips. We are taking tents and will hopefully camp a fair bit (I know it's not allowed below 1600m). Given the scarcity of water, and the fact we don't want to carry much food-weight, we were hoping to be able to camp outside refuges, but eat there. I have read mixed things about this - some people say they will only let you camp if they are already full, others that they will let you camp if you like. I would much rather camp than share a dorm with a load of other people who smell as bad as I will.

So my questions to anyone who has camped are:

1. Will they let you camp even if they are not full
2. If they are full, or if you are just passing through, can you eat there or can you only eat if you are staying in the refuge?

Thanks.
