Mont-Blanc may be nice but it?s not on the hallowed list, so you?re wasting your time.

Why? I'm just curious - I dont want to give people the impression on this forum that i'm female. Maybe I'd best change my avatar to a more manly image!!

No worries - that clears that up then! I had thought it was because of the avatar I had of a dog dressed as Princess Leah! I've since changed it to a pic of a snow clad rocky ridge but it seems it takes time to appear!

As you can all see I have a new "manly" avatar of rock, snow and ice. I was considering a picture of something even more manly like a powertool or a black and decker workmate!

The gauntlet has been thrown down to Chris Townsend - where are you Chris? How do the badger skin boots compare to trail shoes and sandals? I imagine they are lighter weight and more breathable than trail shoes.

We are always reading of how imperitive it is to stay safe in the mountains, and some people - especially those new to munro bagging - don't have the appropriate experience/skills to tackle these mountains alone. Using a guide is helpful to gain experience and build confidence.

The other options would be 1. not to bother attempting them at all or 2. Put yourself and others at risk by attempting them alone without enough experience and knowledge.

Iv only done 7 munros and used a guide for 3 of them. 1 was a winter munro and there is no chance I would have done that alone without the knowledge and experience of winter hillwalking. If I had, and I'd got into trouble, I would be criticised for lacking the appropriate experience.
