What a truly beautiful tribute Roger Smith has written to Iain Matheson in this month's TGO. It's the most moving piece of writing I've ever read about those who love to go out and experience the joy of wild places.

Very many thanks for it, Roger. It's brought tears to my eyes.

His column is always the thing I read first each month - always topical and usually spot on. After all, how many other (former)outdoor magazine editors have appeared on Mastermind?

He was on several (ten?) years ago, and I seem to remember his topic was...wait for it....something to do with Scottish mountains!
