    lol, certainly don't Parky, but it's one of the reasons I prefer to head for the hills!

    Row - I do actually live in Reading and consider the Ridgeway one of my local paths.

    Apart from that, I think it does get mentioned a lot because it has been mashed to bits and voluntary self regulation by off roaders didn't seem to work at all. So it would appear to be a good example in such discussions, wouldn't you say?

    i would love to head for the hills but they are all too far away for a decent day out..
    i've tried getting lost on the south downs (honestly, it was an experiment) and have failed miserably. getting lost across the plains is far easier but it can make the day more entertaining.

    could walk every path with a gps. send trails to local councils. they may tell the os and get maps updated..........or they may just close many because they're not "real" paths.
